This series will build on the beginner series last fall and review the rudimentary plays, so new folks are welcome. Step-by-step, Grace gives guidance as players play random hands of bridge.

Winter Trails Day is an indoor/outdoor event. Please dress for the weather, avoiding cotton and instead wearing wool and synthetic layers. If you are planning to go on a hike, bring a day pack and water bottles, along with extra layers, winter hat, gloves/mittens, and appropriate boots. Bringing a change of clothes will allow you to enjoy the après party in warm, dry layers. We will have some trail snacks available to pack for your hike but please also pack a lunch and snacks.

If you have snowshoes and microspikes already, please bring them! Snowshoe and microspikes demos will be available to lend to those who don’t have any courtesy of Outdoor Gear Exchange.

We hope that you will enjoy your hikes/workshops and then stay for the après party, with drinks and food supplied by Burlington Beer Company and The Pizza Joint. We will be raffling off some exciting prizes from GMC’s Visitor Center store and local businesses and ski areas.

The songwriting workshop with the McHughs continues throughout the winter and spring. Dates are:

Basic elements of songwriting will be covered, along with fun, practical group exercises that will benefit everyone’s skillset. Topics may include but are not limited to idea development, song structure, lyrical prosody, memorable melodies, basics of co-writing, how to give feedback and more. If you have a song to share, please bring a recording or feel free to bring your instrument or voice or both. A keyboard and microphone will be available if needed.

The series is led by musicians and singer/songwriters Patrick and Alison McHugh. The McHughs have been making music together for two and a half decades and have a passion for inspiring songwriters and aspiring songwriters to bring forth their unique talents and have a safe space to practice and hone their skills. Pat is a drummer, guitarist, producer, and sound technician. Alison is a singer, songwriter, and pianist.

The Monday and Wednesday evening gatherings are an informal time for songwriters of all abilities to collaborate in the sharing of their songwriting skills and ideas. Prior experience is not a requirement.
