Meditation & Mandala Painting

Step in from the snowy cold and slow down your busy life to become an artist with a calm, balanced mind during this meditative painting experience. Class begins with a 20-minute guided meditation to help you cleanse the mind, resetting it to a more peaceful, centered place. Teaching artist Natasha Bogar will then transition the class to mandala painting. Learn design, color mixing and art history. You will leave class feeling the benefits of relaxation with your painting on a wooden circle in hand. There is a minimum of 5 participants for this program to run and a maximum of 15. High Fives Fat Ski a Thon

Lap the Summit Quad on your widest planks and give out high fives all day for a great cause. Each lap completed on “fat” skis of 70 millimeters or more raise money to support the High Fives Non-Profit Foundation. Sponsored laps and flat donations welcome. The competition is NOT a race, but a casual event to have fun, and raise awareness for the High Fives Non-Profit Foundation. Pre-registration is required, High Fives are suggested all day.

St. Paddy's Day Celebration

The Grange Hall Cultural Center invites the community to join them for an evening of traditional Irish Music and dancing, with celebrated bands of Knotwork, The Northern Lights and the Church Restoration Project, as well as the lively Celtic Company step dancing throughout the program, Friday, March 17 @ 7pm at the Grange Hall Cultural Center, in Waterbury Center. Knotwork, an internationally acclaimed group from Waterbury, is known for playing Irish traditional music in the Vermont style, and has enchanted audiences for ten years at venues in Moretown, Vermont to Moscow, Russia, with hundreds of places in between. Annabel Moynihan and Sebastian James will be on fiddle with Michael Moynihan singing and playing the Irish drum. The Northern Lights trio, based out of the Waterbury/Richmond area, is made up of fiddlers Katrina VanTyne and Denise Dean, and multi-instrumentalist, Jonathan Leonard. With 2 fiddles, guitar, bouzouki, button accordion and harmonium, you're bound to enjoy the sweet melodies of foot stopping jigs and reels to dreamy waltzes and hoppy hornpipes. Also playing is The Church Restoration Project, a Fiddle/guitar duo with Allen Church and Pete Haselbacher, who are distinguished by Pete's DADGAD guitar tuning and harmonic intuition. This session also features youth displaying their talent under Allen’s adept tutelage. Doors open @ 6pm, Music starts at 7pm Tickets $20 at the door. The Life & Inventions of Hedy Lamarr, on Friday, March 24 & Saturday, 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 26 at 2pm at the Grange Hall Cultural Center, 317 Howard Avenue, in Waterbury Center, VT, closing its 2017 One & Only Series, celebrating the power of solo performance. This award winning work from artist, Heather Massie, was written in the Grange Hall Cultural Center’s residence program last summer, telling the story of Hedy Lamarr, the compelling bombshell from Hollywood and inventor of groundbreaking technology. Hedy Lamarr, glamorous siren of the silver screen, was more than “the most beautiful woman in the world”. She invented frequency hopping and spread spectrum, a technology that has made the world of wireless communication tick. From Austria to Hollywood, WWII, torpedoes, “Ecstasy”, and intrigue to the very cell phone in your pocket, she was there! Ms. Massie has won 2017 Best Actress in SaraSolo Festival, Sarasota, FL; 2016 Outstanding Actress in a Staged Reading in Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, NYC; and the 2016 Festival Bestseller in United Solo, NYC, winning awards each place she performs.
