20 years after the terror attacks on America, citizens of Waterbury will come together in a commemoration ceremony to honor the victims of Sept. 11, 2001. The commemoration ceremony honors the victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, airline flight takeovers and the American military service personnel who have died in the war against terrorism while other members of the service continue to fight. American Legion posts across America are energizing their communities to ensure that the innocent victims will never be forgotten. “We must not forget all of those who gave their lives for this great country,” Post Commander Wayne Goulet said. “Everyone in Waterbury and surrounding communities is invited to join together in this uniting ceremony.”

The ceremony will begin with recognition of emergency-service personnel who have remained strong throughout the entire ordeal on the attack of America and who have upheld the honor of patriotism. “This ceremony will not only honor those who have died, but also those who live and continue to fight for the freedom of this great nation,” Goulet said. “As a nation united, we must remain committed to supporting the men and women of our armed forces as they serve with honor and courage.” The ceremony will take place at 6pm Sept. 11 in front of Post 59 on Stowe St.

The final Park Dancing event of the year will be December 15.

Alana Rancourt Phinney (MFA) is a Vermont-based dance artist. She has been facilitating creative movement programming for varied populations for over twenty years. In 2013, she founded Park Dancing in the Philadelphia area to provide opportunities to the community to move together to promote shared creative engagement and wellness. She is thrilled to bring Park Dancing to Waterbury Center!

Andrea Soberman is an early childhood educator, preschool specialist, and now Director of Musical Munchkins with Andrea® in Vermont, opened her first Musical Munchkins® school in Orange County, NY in January of 1993. "Miss Andrea" graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and graduate studies in music and art. Andrea has given workshops at local early childhood education conferences and has performed at many libraries, daycares, and nursery school programs throughout the Hudson Valley New York and Vermont as well as performing at birthday parties.
