Part-Time Grant WRiter

Job Title: Part-Time Grant Writer Location: Remote/Hybrid (Central Vermont-based preferred) Compensation: $45–$50 per hour, based on experience Hours: 10 hours per week
About Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity: Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity (CVHFH) builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership and critical home repairs. We work with income-sensitive families and individuals across Central Vermont, building energy-efficient homes, restoring housing stability, and supporting vibrant communities through volunteerism, partnerships, and advocacy.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Grant Writer to support our growing housing and development work. The Grant Writer will play a key role in identifying funding opportunities, drafting compelling proposals, and managing grant reporting. This is a part-time, flexible position with the potential for long-term collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify public and private grant opportunities aligned with CVHFH’s mission and programs
  • Draft, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting materials
  • Manage and track grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff to develop proposal content, project budgets, and impact narratives
  • Maintain organized records of proposals, reports, and funding history
  • Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in nonprofit grant writing and fundraising (3+ years preferred)
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Ability to translate program goals into clear and persuasive proposals
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Familiarity with affordable housing, community development, or Vermont funding landscape is a plus
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and donor databases (e.g., Bloomerang or similar CRM) preferred
  • Schedule & Compensation:
  •  10 hours per week
  • $45–$50/hour depending on experience

ReStore Donation Pick-Up Driver

The ReStore Donation Pick-Up Driver is responsible for safely collecting donated furniture, appliances, and building materials from community members and delivering them to the Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Waterbury. This role includes lifting and moving items, providing friendly customer service, and helping keep donations organized. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to lift heavy items are required. This is a great opportunity to support affordable housing while staying active and engaged in the community.

Reports to: ReStore manager

Work Location: Waterbury ReStore, 149 South Main St. Waterbury, VT

Compensations: $18-$20/ hour

Position: Full-Time, Hourly

Schedule: 10:00am-6:00pm Tuesday-Saturday

Permits and Requirements: Driver’s License

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the ReStore Manager with day to day operations.

  • Pick up donations with our Donation Pickup Driver in Habitat for Humanity vehicles.

  • Unload and load the truck multiple times during the day with help from store staff or volunteers.

  • All donations will be brought back to the store and unloaded, any unsaleable donations will be properly disposed of.

  • Truck will be properly secured with a lock at the end of the day and any electronic devices securely stored in the glove box.

  • Adhere to Habitat criteria for accepting only saleable items for the store.

  • Driver and helper can receive tips however no employees or volunteers can accept gifts, donations from donors for personal use or resale. Furthermore, the purchase of merchandise from a donor is prohibited.

  • Assist with ongoing training of volunteers regarding safe work practices.

  • Help maintain a clean and safe work environment inside and outside of the ReStore.

  • Responsible for daily and weekly truck checks.

  • Take in and price donations per manger's instruction.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds.

  • Effective oral communication skills.

  • Creative self-starter with the ability to work both independently and with other staff and volunteers.

  • Physical ability to complete work in the store/warehouse/outdoors under all weather conditions.

  • Able to safely move heavy donations with assistance using moving dollies and other provided tools.

  • Substance screening, criminal background check and driving history will be conducted prior to job offer.

  • The position may require climbing ladders up to 6 feet high, position requires the ability to grasp, reach, stoop, carry and push objects up to 65 lbs.
