The Eleva Chamber Players celebrates the legacy of violinist John Lindsay, its founding concertmaster, as he retires from the orchestra after 17 years. The farewell concert features some of the most beloved pieces from the string repertoire, including: Corelli’s Concerto grosso in g-minor op. 6 Nr. 8 (The Christmas Concerto), Vivaldi’s Winter from Four Seasons, Mendelssohn’s String Symphony #3. Primrose’s Tango from Sarasateana arran ...

The Eleva Chamber Players celebrates the legacy of violinist John Lindsay, its founding concertmaster, as he retires from the orchestra after 17 years. The concerts will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 7:00 pm at the United Church of Christ/Waterbury Congregational Church (8 North Main Street, Waterbury) and on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm at The Inn at Round Barn Farm (1661 East Warren Rd, Waitsfield). Admission is $25, $20 for Seniors, Students. Students of the Green Mountain Youth Symphony are admitted free. Tickets are available at https://www.elevachamberplayers.com or at the door.

According to Willie Docto, founder of the Eleva Chamber Players, “We’re so thrilled to be able to give John Lindsey a musical farewell. In 2005, John was the first musician invited to join our group. His ability to create a beautiful sound with his violin, his strong leadership skills and his gentle demeanor have made Eleva a uniquely inspiring experience for the musicians and audiences alike. He will certainly be missed.”

The Eleva Chamber Players is Central Vermont’s only professional string chamber orchestra and was founded in April of 2006 in Waterbury, Vermont with the mission of elevating the human spirit through music. Eleva’s concerts feature fine musicianship and fascinating dialogue that is both educational and inspiring. The conductor-less orchestra operates with a collaborative process and is composed of professional musicians with distinguished international careers from throughout Vermont and the United States. In addition to its annual November concerts, Eleva has conducted concert tours of Vermont wineries and various house concerts around the country.

On November 15, Jim Shallow, Director, Strategic Conservation Initiatives at the Nature Conservancy will discuss the Family Forest Carbon Program. Developed by The Nature Conservancy and the American Forest Foundation, the Family Forest Carbon Program enables family forest owners with qualifying forest land of 30 or more acres to access carbon markets by conserving or managing their forest land. The program empowers landowners to help address climate change while earning income from their land, and is available to qualifying landowners throughout Vermont.

“Until now, carbon markets were essentially closed to private landowners because of their complexity and high upfront costs,” says Jim Shallow. “This program eliminates some of those barriers, and provides an economic incentive for Vermont landowners to manage their forests in climate-friendly ways.”

Are we separate from the issues we see pervading our culture or are we all collectively creating them because of the way we have been conditioned to think?

Our time together will be spent in a rich fluid atmosphere of teaching, dialogue and contemplation. Each class will be organic and holistic. We will use the energy and interests of the participants to lead us all into deeper understandings of the cultural dream state and breaking free into awakening.

You’ll leave each session feeling more strength and fortitude in continuing upon the greatest journey of all; the hero’s journey - the odyssey of self-discovery.

The Focus
We will dig into our cultural and “normal” state of consciousness.

Do our cultural beliefs give us a deeper understanding of reality or actually distort our perception of reality?

How do all of our cultural issues such as poverty, racism, sexism, war, environmental degradation, addiction, and many others connect to a single root?

How is culture a dream state and how can a culture be a hellish or heaven like way of living?

How does our cultural thinking impact the way we use science?

Are we interconnected with the world, what is Wholeness?

We will leap into what different people call Wholeness, Buddha Nature, Cosmic Consciousness, God, and Tao and what transcendence and transpersonal mean.

You will learn how to dig into the fundamental questions that pertain to reality, oneself, nature, consciousness and culture.

You will discover the art of listening and how that pertains to actually letting go.

This all sounds great, but who are these facilitators?
It’s us! Garin and April. We have spent our careers exploring the intersection of culture, philosophy, psychology and education. Garin’s masters’ degrees are in transpersonal and consciousness studies and education. April’s bachelor’s degrees are in psychology and philosophy and master’s is in psychology. We obtained these degrees because this is what we love to think about and learn about, and we’re so excited to think and learn with you!
