On Wednesday, May 3rd, from 7:00-8:30pm in the CBMS Library, Hannah's House is helping us to bring Cindy Pierce to CBMS. Cindy’s presentation will address the ever-changing challenges and pressures that teens face in a fast-moving world. In the cultural tidal wave of influence around social media, hookup culture and internet porn, young people need to build skills to navigate these pressures. Practicing social courage helps young people develop resilience and the willingness to endure the inevitable social consequences of standing alone and speaking their minds. Enlisting the support of Anchoring Adults and a Healthy Crew can help teens find their way. Combining years of research with her storytelling skills, she engages audiences with her message about making healthy choices and navigating cultural pressures, both online and off. It has become increasingly challenging for young people to feel at ease, worthy and relevant as they attempt to find balance in their busy lives. Cindy is the author of three books, including: Sexploitation: Helping Kids Develop Healthy Sexuality in a Porn-Driven World. She and her husband, Bruce Lingelbach are the parents of three young adults and run Pierce’s Inn in Etna, NH. You can learn more about Cindy’s work at www.cindy-pierce.com. Stop the Bleed is a training that can help you save a life. This course will train you how to safely and effectively stop bleeding in an emergency situation. This class will cover how to properly apply pressure to a wound, how to pack a wound to control bleeding, and how to correctly apply a tourniquet. ...
