PART TIME BOOKSELLER & EVENT COORDINATOR

Bridgeside Books seeks a part-time bookseller/event coordinator. We aim to be the place to find things to engage your mind - from books to strategy games to ways to be creative. You must love to read and be able to be helpful, cheerful, and respectful to everyone who walks through the door. This is a 20 hr/week, permanent, year-round position starting in May, with the potential for more during the holidays. Flexibility is necessary for both schedule and since this is a new, somewhat evolving position - we want someone to work with us and be excited to bring new ideas to the table.

General duties:

  • Greet customers, answer questions, determine needs, recommend products, share your knowledge and enthusiasm
  • Tidy up, restock, break down boxes, input new inventory, light cleaning (this all includes lifting boxes up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, crouching, and standing/walking for the entirety of your shift)
  • Plan and coordinate events throughout the year from author readings to creative collaborations with other businesses
  • Work shifts on weekends, occasional evenings for events, and some holidays. (The bookstore is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day)

HENDER'S BAKE SHOP & CAFE

WEEKEND BARISTA/COUNTER POSITION

Hender's Bake Shop & Cafe is hiring a weekend Barisa/Counter position to cover shifts on Saturday and Sundays from 7:30 am-2:30 pm; the pay is $13-15/hour plus tips. This position will fulfill all online orders and window orders, including making lattes and boxing pastries. They will also help with packaging wholesale, washing dishes, cleaning & sanitizing, along with the changing seasonal tasks (shoveling porch & watering plants). Customer Service experience required, at least one year. No espresso machine experience needed, but you must love coffee!!! Curator Search: Community Arts Exhibition

Across Roads Center for the Arts seeks a curator to head the volunteer team managing selection, hanging, and exhibition of a community art show slated July 21-August 21, 2021 at the Grange Hall Cultural Center in Waterbury Center. The individual should be passionate about community, have basic knowledge of art, work well with others, and have excellent follow through. The theme of the show will present artwork exploring the current issues on people’s minds, including but not limited to: climate change, social justice, food scarcity; economic disparity, examples of resilience, hope, unity and action, etc. All forms of art will be considered that voice concern or solution through artistic and constructive means. Across Roads Center for the Arts is seeking submissions of fine art that expresses issues of climate change as they impact the lives, activity, and habitats of the birds around us, for exhibit June 2- July 3, 2021 at the Grange Hall Cultural Center in Waterbury Center, Vermont. All disciplines of artwork, including outdoor sculpture, film, music, dance and other performance will be considered. Some scientific basis preferred.
