Call to ARtists
Revitalizing Waterbury (RW) together with the Stowe Street Alley Steering Committee (Committee) announces their search for an artist or artist team for the design, fabrication, and installation of a permanent Medallion Feature and Gateway Feature at the Stowe Street Alley in Waterbury, Vermont.
The Gateway Feature is the keystone of the entire Stowe Street Alley Project while the Medallion feature is one of many additional keystones. For this reason, artwork should reflect the design direction that has been embraced by the Committee. The design direction is shpaed by the following words:
Preserve, Playful/Whimsical, Clean, Embrace Change/Dynamic, Peaceful, Natural
Proposed artwork should create a welcoming environment that brings joy and tranquility to the site.
Each Feature has a separate budget and application process. Qualified submissions will be evaluated on specific selection criteria:
- Artistic Merit of Concept
- Ability to Meet the Project Goals
- Contextual Appropriateness
- Collaborative Approach
- Proven Experience
- Safety and Maintenance
The deadline for submissions for the Gateway Feature has been extended to May 8, 2023.
